How to: Connect IQ3 Dash/data logger to RPM signal

This article provides information on how to connect a RacePak IQ3 dash/data logger to an RPM signal.  This information covers a Lotus Exige S (2007), other Lotus years/models may vary.

REQUIREMENTS:


  1. Bullet  RacePak IQ3 Dash

  2. Bullet  DataLink II software

  3. Bullet  MSD Ignition 8918 - MSD Tach Signal GMR Pickup

Connect the MSD Ignition 8918 GMR Pickup to the green wire coming from coil pack #4.

Connection the red to vehicle power + and the black to vehicle ground - (this should be switched).

Connection the green wire to the yellow wire coming directly OUT of the IQ3 (does NOT go thru vNet).

Connect the green wire to the yellow wire directly from the IQ3 Dash (not vNet)

Optional - heat wrap insulation for the sensor

In the DataLinkII software, configure the RPM signal as shown below.
